The event: the second of four weddings this year, attended with my friend Liz
The couple: Annie and Neil, friends from church. Annie wore a white “mermaid style,” spaghetti-strap dress and carried a bouquet of hot pink roses. She is Chinese, and many of her family and friends came over for the event. American guests were in the minority
The venue: beautiful St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church just up the road from me. The ceremony featured I Corinthians 13, read in both English and Chinese
Bar: none. Just pink cranberry punch and coffee. The food was mostly American (fruit salad, chicken salad etc) with the exception of a mountain of very delicious spring rolls
Unusual: recorded classical music was played over the sound system during the reception - selections included Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 and Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
