The event: my birthday
The venue: my house and Borders. Last year I went all out with a large Hawaii-themed birthday party. This year was a more low key affair (As I grow older, I become more subdued;). In the morning I practiced German, my new favorite non-English language. Then I trekked over to Borders. I enjoyed coffee and carrot cake while working my way through a glorious stack of foreign magazines. When I got home I curled up on the couch for a "Lost" marathon.
Bar: homemade mudslides
Gifts: 2 books and a bottle of Calvin Klein Eternity (or should I say 'Ewigkeit')
Unusual: Yesterday I received a gift from my friend Michaela. It was not for my birthday, though, it was supposed to have reached me last Christmas.
