Elevator chat

The following is a transcript of an actual conversation I had in my office elevator today. When I took it to go down to the lobby, it was already occupied by a random colleague from a higher floor. To see the sign in question, please view my post You're Climbing the Dutch Mountains.

Random colleague from higher floor: So you're ignoring the lovely signs and taking the elevator?

Emma: I try to avoid obeying signs whenever I can.

Random colleague: So this is your way of rebelling against authority?

Emma: Exactly.

Random colleague: But what if everyone in our society disobeyed signs? We'd have chaos.

(Emma loses all interest in the conversation)

Emma: That's a philosphical question, and those are above my pay grade.

(They reach the lobby and part ways)
